I'd respray - easier to repair / touch up if you kerb it.

I wouldn't recommend powdercoating alloy wheels, the process involves heating the wheels to a point that may make them brittle.
Any decent panel beater would be able to paint wheels or know someone who does.

Urban myth or fact?
I would have thought the heat process, if it would do anything, would make them softer not brittle.

Blk Peng, sell me your wheels and I will test the theory in the name of science.

The truth might be somewhere in the middle, depending on who does the powdercoating. I found this:
Alan Peltier at HRE Performance Wheels wrote:You have to ensure the time/temp cycle is kept low and short enough otherwise you will affect the heat-treatment of the forgings. You can powdercoat, if you're careful. We do it everyday. We switched all of our standard colors to powdercoat once they developed metallic powdercoats and got the cure temps down to an acceptable level, so these days it is possible if done properly. We find powdercoat to be more robust, but you get more color options with paint so we still have to use paint for color matched wheels unless we've had a custom color developed in volume (Arctic Silver for example).

Definitely spray. Prices vary wildly. I had mine done for around $140 per wheel and that included having the tyres removed and refitted.

I had my four "daisy" wheels resprayed. I'd sandblasted them using my mate's compressor and an el cheapo sandblast kit from Supercheap, so all the prep work was mostly done. Took them to a local shop who specializes in motorbike tanks and small paint jobs.

All four wheels in two pak, hardened & lacquered $200.

More than a year on and they still look great, no cracking, peeling or scrapes. Well worth shopping around. I asked a couple of wheel/tyre places if they ever restore wheels & got some references to shops before I found this one.

Also sandblasted. Then primer and dulux gloss rattle-can black. Took me about six hours.

If you don't want the Nardi gear knob, I'm sure someone will help remove it for you!
