Has anyone done a write up on how to install a Sparco Sprint V in the passenger side of an NA mx5? If not, what would be the easiest way to do it?

The drivers side was a breeze, just having trouble installing the passenger side.

*puts hand up.*

Still haven't safely gotten it in hence why I haven't done my promised write-up yet, its a prick of a job.

If work is nice to me I'll get it done this week sometime.

I basically removed the rails, had a look at where everything went and started from there. There is alot of drilling and extending the original holes on the rails. There is a chance you'll have to use a trusty tap'n'die to make some new mounting points.

Here is what I did.

The holes in the rails need to be re-drilled to suit the hole spacing of the seat. It's about 30mm out, so I re-drilled the back holes 30mm down from their current location and bolted the rails on.

Now the holes in the mount where it bolts to the flow are too far apart and the seat mount has studs which line up with holes in the floor to locate it. By about 6mm.

With a die-grinder I open those holes up in the floor so that the studs will sit in the floor. I then sat it in place and looked at how much the holes miss lining up with the captive nuts in the floor. Again, it was about 5-6mm inward, using the same die-grinder, I slotted the holes in the seat mount inward. I then sat the seat back in the car.

With some flexing of the rails I had all four bolts in the car. I used new, longer M10x1.25 hi tensile bolts with oversized washers and bolted it down. Solid as a rock.
