Rollbar Fabricators - Perth WA

calling all WA mx-5 owners

where's the best (quality and price wise) to get a rollbar fabricated in Perth?

Have called a couple of places that advertise on the internet, but was given a ballpark of 2K for a 4 point rollbar (welded) and add another 5 hundred for a bolt on.

is BD or TB the only "reasonably" priced options?

I got a quote for the US branded bolt in ones late last year. Would have cost me about $1200-$1300AUS landed incl of taxes.. That's another option if you choose to use that.

I just ended up with the MX5 Plus Tall Boy

yea the tall boy looks like a good option. just don't have much time to get it painted/powder coated and then find another place to do the install.

which is why i was looking at the WA fabricated option as a one-stop shop.

if you don't mind, could you pm me the contact details of the workshop that did the install for you, and whether you were happy with their workmanship

Cheers

I'm in VIC and the quotes for a 4 point custom bar were in the same area. 1.5k basic +500 for door bars. I was looking for a weld in so extra for bolt in. The advice given to me (and taken) was to chat with AGI in NSW. There's a thread on it here. Full CAMS spec 4 point bolt-in with option for door bars, soft top with glass or plastic window options or even a dedicated hard top (no soft top) option.
Adam (The Man) was very easy to communicate with, prompt with replies via email. Pricing was beyond competative - was a no-brainer for me. Haven't got the bar yet but there are more than a few new owners of AGI bars here -I'm sure they can give feedback.

Cheers
Stu

AGI.
I would not bother elsewhere.

I did the whole circuit last year trying to get the best price for a cage that was actually Cams compliant.
Ended up finding AGI, glad I did.

$800 approx for the half cage bolt in.
Add door bars if you want.
Comes with CAMS approval paperwork and then just get it shipped either with Adam sorting it out or organize your own courier.

Just give Adam a call.

thanks all.

I've given AGI a call and waiting on a quote from them. WA is an expensive place for motorsports hobby, everything from fabricated rollcages to tyres expect to pay almost double

If you need someone to do the install, let me know. I have done a few installs in mine already.

Get your tyres from over east, yes I like to support local to but I have found I can generally save a few hundred buying from places like option 1 or taleb tyres.

Parallel importers don't warranty their tyres tho. But at the price saving it's still worth it.

You could still get good bargains locally sometimes. I managed to get a set of 245/40r18 Pirelli pzero Rosso from swan tyres ozzy park for 230 a corner coz it was the last 4 they were trying to get rid of

If you're tall I wouldn't bother with the AGI bar. Im 6'2" and wit a bride fixed back on bride rails my head rested on the AGI bar and i lost roughly 1.5" of seat travel. Unless you're happy to bolt your seat to the floor or get a custom floor pan you'll struggle to fit.

being tall has never been my problem

finding a bucket seat that I can bolt on to the floor to fit my fat @ss may pose problems ..haha
