I have a really annoying problem. On the hottest of days my passenger side washer nozzle will weep water. At first I thought it was getting heated by the exhaust, so I used some spare heat reflective tape I had and wrapped the reservoir and the portion of hose in the engine bay. I have also replaced all of the hoses, both the nozzles, and the Y-joint with all new items, and it is still happening. I am at a loss. Any ideas?

My old NA6 used to do the same after the washer bottle was filled up. If you haven't already try lowering the water level & if there's a breather hole in the lid make sure it's clear.

I think the line has a one way valve in it and it may not be operating as it should. Particularly as it is leaking on the side closest to the bottle. Maybe it time for a new valve.

It's and old car/man thing (leaky bladders, prostate).

Mine has been doing this ever since I put my nopro bottle in the cowling. I figure there's a mass of water in the piping, which is mostly horizontally layed I'm the cowling, and this mass gets pushed out gets by centripetal force when I do right turns (I watch it dribble out at a decent rate) when I drive around a roundabout.

It's annoying because the nopro barely holds above a litre of water (maybe 1.5L) and often empties itself out in a two-three week period through this nozzle, erm, .*cough* discharge..

If you have a stock water bottle, I'd be checking that there is mostly "only" verticals plumbing to it, minimise any unnecessary bends.

The water valve is also something to look into. I hand t thought that one might exist in it somewhere. That said, I've only had the leak since I've installed the relocated bottle. (Unfortunately I don't have many options for verticals piping in my situation)

I've layout out the pipe from my water bottle to the bonnet, raising the pipe as much as I could above the water bottle. I was able to have it about 1cm above the max height of the bottle for the entire length to the bonnet. Did it this arvo, drove to Melbourne tonight, did some enthusiastic cornering and haven't noticed any leaks from the nozzle and definitely no leaks onto the windscreen (which would happen). I will check my water levels in the morning to confirm and if all's good, will post photos of my setup when I'm back home.

success for my situation:

originally the water hose was sitting on the cowling floor.
Now i've tied it above the top height of the washer bottle with cable ties and tucking it under the plastic covers.

no leaks, no dribbles, no mess, no fuss.

It's now tucked undernead the plastic sheath which sits beneath the wiper arms.. I forget what that piece is called)


cable tied just near the passenger side wiper arm base (theres a cut out on the plastic sheath thingy which makes that easy and convenient so i can get back to playing tennis or frolicking on the beach.


Here it exists the passenger side of the cowling sheath thingy to 'hinge' to the bonnet. there's plenty of length here for easy flexing.


Just for the sake of me having spare hose i put a loopy twist in the line feeding the previously leaking nozzle, so even on my heaviest cornering days, i feel nothing but protected.

At no point along the length of the hose does it drop below the top height of the washer bottle.

I understand this might not help those who have a standard position washer bottle but for those who have relocated bottles with weepy nozzles, this is a fix..

I called up Mazda about a replacement one way valve, and got told it was $15 for the little piece. No way!! So I found a solution which seems to have worked in the form of some one way valves from an aquarium shop. I bought a big pack of them so if you want some, PM me.

I'm having this problem with my NitroDann washer bottle. Do the photos from Droo's posts work for anyone else, for me they're dead. Has anyone else successfully fixed the issue? Care to take a photo for me?

I'll try what I think he's describing and see how I go, otherwise, I'll go look for an aquarium shop I suppose

The simple fix is the one way valve you all have to keep water up to the washer outlets. Without it all the water in the lines will return to the washer bottle and you will not have instant washers when needed. The one way valves can cease to function over time hence the need for a new one or go to a wrecker locate a one way valve they are all the same diameter. Another way to increase your nozzles efficiency is to replace the plastic lines with slightly larger diameter plastic lines as the pump operates at a much higher rate than the original tube diameter can handle. Just use small plastic ties on all lines and you will be pleasantly surprised how much water reaches your windscreen.
