NC Black soft top cleaner

Postby radar » Sun Nov 25, 2012 12:22 am

Newly acquired NC MY07 Stormy Blue/Black soft top.

Birds that excrete white poop also take a liking to my car.

The manual says "neutral synthetic" lotion or something similar.

Anyone got any suggestions on "neutral synthetic detergents." My wife was suggesting a Eucalyptus based one - she drives a fleet Camry.

My advice is to stay clear of any traditional soft top cleaners or treatments.

I only ever use clean water and a soft brush or, if it gets really dirty, well diluted car wash detergent and a soft brush. I also carry a spray bottle of water and a cloth in the car to clean off any bird droppings as soon as possible after they happen.

Thanks JBT, seemed to do the trick. Will follow your advice about spray water/cloth and soft brush.

I tried Nanolex Convertible Top Sealant on my NA roof to help seal and protect it. Got it from here: http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/produ ... op_sealant. Not cheap, about $60 for a small bottle that will do one application. But my roof was leaking and was looking stained and faded so decided to give it a try. Sprayed the full bottle over the roof and wiped it over and its pretty amazing! After allowing it to dry, hosed the roof and the water really beads and runs off! Even the seams seem better.

Not sure about newer soft tops, would be a personal choice to try it or not. It hasn't been applied long enough to see if any adverse affects over time.
