My A/C button on my NA dash was in crappy worn condition so I bought a "new" used one in excellent condition. I got the old one off fairly easily, but the new one doesn't hold on very well and Im concerned it might pop off and get lost and they're hard to find. I'm trying to figure out what I can use to hold it on there fairly permanently but so that I can get it off again with a little bit of force if I ever need to get the tombstone off in future.
Obviously super glues and araldite are out. Asked my old man but he didn't have any reasonable suggestions (he's usually very good at that type of thing). Whatever it is needs to be clear so that the A/C letters will illuminate at night.
I just got some Tarzan's Grip General Purpose glue (not the Tarzans Grip super glue) from Coles because it dries clear and is "flexible" when dry, thinking maybe if it's flexible it might come off in future after a bit of "encouraging" (I've been trying to steer clear of words like pulling/tugging to avoid innuendo, particularly as i am referring to a knob lol).
Any better suggestions? Cheers

Re: Glue/adhesive suggestions for A/C knob?
I used the Tarzan's grip stuff on my vent rings, it works well, but it will still make it an absolute bugger to remove.
I can't quite remember how the knob attaches, is there a missing screw on the underside of the knob to hold it on? Or is it purely a press on thing?
If it's a press on one, you might be able to pack the stalk bit out by simply putting a small bit of sticky tape around it (make it a little thicker so the knob can grab it better)

Thanks mate, yeah they just push onto a stalk, no screw.
I considered sticky tape and i might try that first before the glue, i just dont like looking at something knowing there's crappy old sticky tape behind it lol.
thanks for the tip

There's this stuff called Goop whic is great but I've struggled to find it in Oz. It's like silicon sealant but much stronger.
Alternatively, use silicon sealant!
