Picked up a supposedly factory na6 classic red rattle can to touch up my guards recently and the colour is several shades lighter. Infact im pretty sure its not even the same red. Im pretty sure the paint code was right... but its not a great match.
Can anyone recommend a decent over the counter rattle can brand i can pick up locally as well as the correct paint code just to clarify and tripple check i have the right one?
Dont want get get one mixed up and mazda will be a rip.

Josh'I know you said you don't want to get a can mixed but i have used Darby's near Kardinia Park in Moorabool st a few times and the colour matches have been great. All depends on how close the paint you are trying to match is to original as well.
Peter.

If you go to autobahn they will look it up for you, I think the code was SE. They can check, can cost $30.

The code is SU for Classic Red.

Of course, this is all assuiming a previous owner hasn't resprayed the car.
Josh, I'd just get a can mixed up.
Reds expecially fade, so a brand new classic red probably wouldn't match a 15year ol classic red.

Yeah i know it fades, but i have brand new factory red on the front end after an accident about 2 years ago so its not faded. Rear have has oxidised a lot but the red i have isnt quite the same, its a bright red rather than the na bloody red. Ill have a hunt around but probably will go to darby's.

I've got my paint (either rattle can or bottle - for touch up) from Auto One. Just bring the paint code with you.
But as already mentioned, they will not paint match. They will simply follow the factory paint mix. So if your car has faded, it won't match very well.

you front end is probably a different red too dude
it depends on how much of a sh*t the painter gave when mixing your paint, especially if it was mixed by weight.
unless you paint the whole car from 1 batch of paint in the same day, you won't have 100% matching paint colour.
what bits are you touching up?

If the rear is original red, there is no clearcoat. The repainted front would have a clear coat, making it shinier.

I have three classic reds on my car
the can is good for stone chips only, spray into the cap and use a tooth pick to apply.
