Is there a simple guide to removing some or all of the seat foam to get me lower and/or more secure on the track in an otherwise standard seat?

Hmm.

+2 for the zip ties.

The hour and a half suggested on the Miata forum turned into 4 hours for me and it ain't finished yet.

The instructions are great. It only took me so long because I really have no idea how to use any kind of tool.

Also I think the job's a bit more complicated on a late NB/SE such as mine.

Anyhow, the top of the foam base is now down to the wires which removes about 30mm. There's also about 10mm out of the bottom of the foam which allows it to drop further into the pan. Overall this seems to drop my head about 20mm. The seat's back in as a trial fit for a few days.

The next step will be to get more radical with the bottom of the base foam, shaping it to drop into the pan with less thickness in front of the pan but the pan nearly filled. Then also thin the foam on the back of the seat back to the wires and I reckon that'll have done it for both height and for making the bolsters hold me in.

We'll see.
