Hi,

Does anyone know whether there is any difference in shape, quality etc between the R-Package NA front lip spoiler sold by R Speed and the very similar looking items sold by various US EBay sellers at considerably lower prices.

Thanks for your help
Regards
Michael

The quality varies. Judging by the threads on miata.net the cheaper eBay versions tend to fit poorly with some buyers saying the overall finish is inconsistent.

I recently organized a group buy of the Rspeed versions and the quality is pretty good. I also bought a front lip from GR craft in Japan made from black gel carbon and the finish and construction was even better, it was lighter and much more flexible but was pretty expensive

Biggest problem is shipping costs.. Don't risk it with a cheapie?

Some of the ebay sellers actually source them from R Speed, trouble is knowing which ones.

fibreglass vs polyurethane. Glass is cheap, easy to make, more prone to breaking. Unconfirmed rumour that Rspeed source from OEM in Canada. Some ppl have the word Canada stamped on theirs.

Why would you post those links up for?...

Now I need to buy something I don't need haha :P

I wonder how long they would last on Sydney streets though?

How long do you expect them to last? just increase your ride height :) then use those cheapo edging to get a feel of the ground to bumper distance.

I got the GV Style lip for my NA6 from eBay for $119. I guess it's a knockoff of the Garage Vary, which is a knockoff of the Touge Run. Main difference compared to the Touge Run is that the GV Style one is polyeruthane, so it's flexible and soft, so doesn't crack. Fitted very well, and looks great. I don't really care *too* much for the finish, since it's not as if I'll be spending all my time scrutinering it

Semantics here, but Garage Vary have been making these lips since I think the late 1990s

Togue Run as a company have only existed for, I think, less than 5 years.

It doesn't matter if a company has been operating for five minutes or heaps of years, both can still produce excellent or crap products

Certainly, and to be honest, if I were in the market for one of these lips I would happily buy the cheap version for $100 over the genuine for over $200
It's a plastic lip, if the holes don't line up perfectly it's simply a matter of de-drilling them.

It was more to correct the whole "blah copied it off blah"

a better known product in general terms is probably superior. A cheap product often uses also low quality raw materials. Outdooor furniture moulded from virgin materials can last many years but the same product moulded from the same tool using say non virgin material can be thrown away in one season. Some companies make it a hard and fast rule only to use virgin materials. - which costs them more whereas others buy the cheapest or use regrind without control. Knowing what they use is another thing- sometimes price is a guide or maybe they even tell the buyer in the description of the product. We all want a bargain but quality usually is a little more and sometimes quality is just not available.
