Light as in Lightweight.

Not light as in lightbulb.

Thinking about getting a mould done, and boot shape similar to the m3 csl.
Obviously will need numbers to cover costs of creating that mould.
Just a thought.. Nothing concrete~ would look bloody awesome though.

the cost of a mould ie tooling something up and producing an aesthetic product would be a significant undertaking. Who would do the engineering? And what is the purpose?

1. a professional moulder, perhaps a panel shop.

2. it looks cool and is light weight.

Most carbon parts arnt engineered. That's why they are not everyone's cup of tea.
How I would go about it is mould in Australia. Send mould to Japan or Taiwan where carbon is cheap and of better quality than china. Send back here. :D

Weight wouldn't be much of a difference. But looks good and will be similar design to m3 csl boot :) oh.. So nice..

Gmi, if you're going to do that, I'd suggest you find a CF fab shop in Japan or Taiwan and give them an order of X sets. They can get the boot and mould it themselves and if the quality isn't good...they built the mould. By the time you build the mould and send the mould out, your costs will be too high.

I looked at producing a body kit in Malaysia, and for FRP/CF skinned front lip and side skirts, it would have come to about $400 plus shipping, but I needed a 10 set run. Plus the shipping just killed it...same price as the kit itself!
