Hey guys

I purchased a Hardtop, and realised that the previous owner didnt give me something, or that i need to buy it. I dont know the exact name but heres a link.

im talking about the chrome cover at the end , that covers the gaskets that connects the hardtop to the car. Where would i get that? or what is it called? because currently it is very ugly having the gaskets exposed.

Thanks!

Thye cover is a separate part available from Mazda spare parts dept.

I was quoted about $50 for some (i forget if it was a pair, or each)

Thanks mate,

ive tried my best to find the part number or atleast what it is called, to save the hassle of calling up and trying to describe what i want.

Anyone with information on this before i go in and make a fool of myself?

Cheers

no one remembers part nbrs. Mazda spares are happy to identify the part and usually show you the graphics on their system for confirmation - you certainly are not making a fool of yourself.

True.

I don't recall the part number off the top of my head.

I simply emailed the local dealership with a description (and included a picture from the web)
Here's one:

I just said I'm after the chrome bits on the back, they faxed me a page from the parts manual with an exploded diagram, it listed the part numbers.

Good day sir's.

i bought these

http://parts.arlingtonmazda.com/product ... 71%29.html

however, i have been baffled to know how the assembly works as it didnt line up. That was due to the fact that i thought this cover connected to the plate.

On my hardtop, it only has the plate.

I saw a mx5 today and noticed that there was another chrome piece underneath the plate? or a surround?

can some one help me? cos right now the cover doesnt fit.

cheers

Not sure which plate you're referring to. Are you able to post some photo of the plate in question?

Okay, i dont have my car on me as it is being painted.

however this is the jist of things

I bought a hard top which didnt haven't attachments required to sit nicely.

I realised i didnt have anything chrome at the rear latch to the frankenstein bolts so i ordered these caps (left and right) thinking it will solve it

http://parts.arlingtonmazda.com/product ... 71%29.html

only to realise, that the plate under neath it round and does not connect to the cap.

I found a picture of the outfit i should be getting

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-MX-5-HA ... 35b9a94797

Should i just buy this? or are there rear plates that i can buy to fit onto the cap i bought? thanks

Hey Chino.

I've just fitted a hardtop to my nb. My understanding of the rear mounting is its welded into the hardtop, so switching it out may be difficult.

I'd be happy to post some close up photos of the assembly on the car if it helps.

The second link (with the round end and exposed screws on top) isn't the stock latch for the NA or NB hardtop.
I'm not sure what that one is from.... perhaps a generic replacement?
