oem properly integrated even secondhand is a better option- most of us were well pleased to see the back of those old clunkers.

Which 'old clunkers'? OEM is not always the best option despite the constant reminders in every thread by yourself..

These have several benefits including reduced drag, convex lenses, anti-glare coating and also have tension adjustment so they never move position. Pretty sure they are a better option to a 15 year old set of mirrors using 15 year old technology (ie a bit of plastic and a flat piece of mirror).

I have these mirrors and think they are brilliant. By using modern tech they provide a better view using a lot less surface area.

 they look amazing, i was looking at rev9 runabout mirros also.
Might take the old school look route, but i do enjoy those cf mirrors :)

Anyone know if slickauto ship to AUS land?

As above, I have them so they sure do ship to Aus.

Check out APR Performance's website as they are APR universal mirrors with another piece machined so that they will fit Miatas.

949racing also sell the APRs, they are very nice and super light.

if you want pure jdm goodness get craft square.

that style of mirror i have found MUCH better than stock. there are no blind spots at all.

Craft Square will cost you roughly $700 new IIRC. Hence, why I went for the APR ones :P

Personally, I like the APR/Slick Auto mounts a lot better also.

And if you do, you run the chance you'll be defected.
It is a part of the ADR's that you have an external mirror on each side of the car, and they must be mounted in an approved position, hence why we dont see the Japanese style mirrors mounted halfway down the front gaurds.

True, but in saying that technically you can also be defected for the Carbon fibre ones as well.

If I remember correctly they are convex on both sides, which I don't think is allowed in the ADRs (I think you're only allowed Convex on passenger side)

Legality of mods isn't exactly #1 on Dann's list of priorities.
