Wet leg syndrome

Postby CoachOz » Tue Oct 11, 2011 12:31 pm

Got caught in some heavy rain the other day and ended up with a wet right leg.

I've cleaned out the drains in the rubber channel that runs down the windscreen and also in the rain rails at the rear. The seals look fine. Does anyone have further suggestions?

Upper or lower right leg? Did you happen to notice at the time roughly which direction it might have been coming from?

See dB's post in following for general drain info:

The drips were coming down almost directly above the door latch - so that's the upper leg. It seemed to be worse when the car was standing still, but that's also when the rain was heaviest.

If rain's heavy enough or if in a car wash, water can sometimes get between the rubber seal & the top edge of the side window glass. Apart from that, may be the rubber strip between the outside of the side window glass & the top edge of the metal door skin has perished & is letting rain in when it's really heavy & you're stationary.

They seem ok, but how do I know the correct tension?

Latches might also need adjusting to ensure they are creating the required tension in the soft-top to get a good seal along the top of the windscreen surround & top of side windows:

Latch repair might even be needed:
