I've stripped paint of wheels before, and as spike suggested bunnings paint stripper will work. Also make sure you have a couple of plastic cards so u can scrap off the paint. I dont remeber the brand, but it wasnt particular strong but it did the job, might need to apply it a couple of times.
Remeber to wear proper protect and read the instructions!
P.S I was stripping factory paint of Rota Gt3, so yours might be easy, sounds like a can job.

tergostrip works great...just make sure your tyres aren't on the wheels when doing it

i can't remember the brand sorry, but take the tyres off before you start.
as koop21 said, plastic cards or a plastic scraper, i used old credit cards which worked fantastic, make sure you wear gloves, heavy duty rubber ones as the stripper is strong and will burn through normal dishwashing gloves. it also burns like a bitch if you get it on your skin

paint stripper- Bristol or go to an automotive paint supplier. There is a lot of info on painting processes including stripping. It sounds simple but does not always work out that way- if the paint is properly applied it can be quite difficult to remove and then it has to be repainted- another involved process. Try search facilities , read the tin or check out the local library for info. And do not use paint stripper without wearing full eye protection.

Got a tiny spec of paint stripper on my wrist, burnt like hell! So cover up.
Any tips on sanding/polishing after stripping the paint?

lol it was terrible i didnt like stripping it with paint stripper... Me and tommop just hit the wheels with sand paper. Took us about 2 hours for all 4 wheels including the painting which i must say turned out freaking awesome
But i agree cover up.
As for sanding tips i used 400 grit dry and sanded the wheels tilll the color faded. Once the sanding is done, make sure you wash it with wax and grease remover or something simliar. Once it dried i started to spray in a semi dust and wind free room @ the back of my appartment
Did 2 light coats and finished it off with heavy wet coat.
Make sure you spray behind the wheels also
