Folks,
Our car currently has holes in the middle of the back number plate as there's no bracket in there (could be using the lower of the two sets of holes in the pics below).
We're getting new number plates soon and I'm wondering if there's a bracket that goes in there (I got one which may fit) or whether we use the top holes rather than the ones further down?
Do you have a bracket on your NA which holds the rear plate? If so could you post a pic so I know what it looks like? Does it have holes which line up with the standard holes in number plates (seen below)?

Re: Can You Show Us Your NA Rear Number Plate Bracket?
When i bought my NA8 it had the original large number plates. I orderd some "retro" style black slim number plates. The front number plate attached to the existing bracket using the pre-drilled holes on the slim number plate. With the rear number plate i removed the original metal number plate bracket. I had to drill two new holes just to the left and the right of the top pre drilled holes in the slim number plate to screw into the top holes on the plastic panel. The number plate sits flush on the plastic panel and looks very neat. I also stuck black electrical tape over the pre drilled holes on the rear of the number plate so you cant see the body colour through the pre drilled holes.
I cant find my original bracket but from memory i dont think you should use it anyway because the slim number plate is not tall enough to cover the bracket, i.e. you would see the bracket behind the new slim plate.

Sorry maybe I should have said, the rear number plate will be standard sized, that slim picture was only for the position of the holes.
Any idea what your original rear number plate bracket looked like?

Cordless drill right through the middle of my numberplate
5mins of measuring and you will be sweet.

Re: Can You Show Us Your NA Rear Number Plate Bracket?
Maybe I should have also mentioned, we would prefer to mount the plates through holes at the top, and not have to drill through the middle of them (we are getting custom perspex coloured plates).
Anyone know what sort of captive thread etc. is behind the top two holes in the garnish panels shown above?
The bracket in the linked pic looks somewhat similar to the one we have, I just don't know if we need to use it or not.

If you don't use the bracket the edges of the number will mark the rear panel unless you find another way of raising the number plate. Even then number plates warp & one edge will come into contact with the panel unless you raise it significantly.
