NA8 Respray Melbourne

Postby Varjak » Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:21 pm

Hi everyone, I've recently purchased a scruffy but salvageable Neo green/tan leather, low KM '97 NA which was badly hit by the hail back in March, now back registered and on the road, the paint is pretty scruffy so I'm looking to get the car resprayed.

Does anyone have any recommendations for panel/spray shops in Melbourne?

I'm looking to bring the car back to new condition so a taxi-spec quick job is not for me. I'm sourcing a replacement bonnet (goes on this arvo) and boot lid (proving a little illusive!) but will need a few dints taking out of the wings, doors etc too.

I want to give the whole car a respray to get it looking even.

I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations you might have. Thanks!

The MX-5 Factory in Ringwood (part of Oven Baked Enamel Services) is a long time sponsor of the MX-5 Club of Vic, and the owner Dick Ritchie is an MX-5 specialist. Their work is second to none, give Dick a call to discuss what you want to do. Like all things good they wont be cheap but you only get what you pay for ! Dick's no. is 9870 0520.

p.s. re repainted 1/2 of my 90 NA many years ago after it was damaged and the paint was flawless and more recently re-painted my hardtop with similar results.

Heard many great things about the MX5 Factory. How much would you have tp pay for a full re spray?

painting depends on many things and it will come down to what you want as a standard. You have to get a quote.

Another vote for MX5 Factory / Dick Richie.
Top quality work! If that's what you're after.
A 'cheap' paint job will always be a 'cheap' paint job................you get what you pay for in prep time, materials, finishing time.

The Mx-5 factory did a fantastic job on the front end of my NB early last year. I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

Hi guys, yes I got a quote from the MX5 factory, I've heard they do a good job but felt it prudent to seek quotes from at least a couple more body shops... so if you have any other recommendations that are not the MX5 factory please let me know! Thanks.

The following thread from last year will given you an idea of cost of full respray or per panel respray: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=41136&p=529183

Make sure that you get the quote from MX5 Factory in writing. Has also been known to a little of their game as of late.
