Body Kit

What do you think of this body kit? I am thinking I would like to put it on my car..

Don't worry about what people think of it, in terms of it's style, it's your car, you have to see it in your driveway all the time so get what you truly want.
It's an extensive bit of kit.
(Cars depicted are highly modified for show which may include molding or adding to the original piece. Parts such as lights, splitters, canards, paint, and others accessories are not included unless specified in the product description.)



Keep in mind to get the look of that car a lot of custom work may need to be carried out apart from attaching the body kit and painting it.

If you want my honest opinion, don't get that spoiler.

Have you looked at the garage vary kits?

I suggest getting a price for this or the garage vary (or anything Japanese) from Jesse Streeter, http://www.jessestreeter.com
It may work out cheaper, and you will be able to customise your shipping to suit.

Just remember...whatever modification you make to the car make sure you do for you. As it won't add any monetary value to its resale price. Unless someone really wants the car you modified.

In fact, I'm noticing on NAs for sale, the more original they are, the quicker they sell and seem to fetch higher prices or at least fetch as much as a modified one with all the goods.

Obviously this is not going to be a problem if you plan to keep the car forever or long term.

To be perfectly honest I can't stand it but that's my opinion. Though I didn't come here to give a negative opinion and walk away haha.

That is my favotire kit and if I had the money I'd probably buy it. Our dollar is VERY close to the US one so it's an awesome cheap alternative, doesn't look too outrageous and ricer looking and best of all, wide arches! Now you can run MASSIVE track on the back and front and even move into the negative offsets without your wheels hanging out the sides.

That's my two cents :D

But in my opinion, it's not really worth getting serious body work done unless you have something big to back it up under the bonnet otherwise it's seems like needless showboating

I remember seeing the Group A VL Commodore kit for the first time and thinking "How long is that going to last?".

How many do you see on the roads these days? I'm guessing none!

You really need to see these kits for yourself and give them a few good hard yanks & tugs to see how solid they are.

Expensive to add, a pain in the arse to preserve, and bloody expensive to repair.

Having said that, I'm still partial to the Garage Vary front nose (http://rides.modified.com/ride/1194491/ ... index.html) and if I had an NA would definitely be tempted by the Garage Vary NA Full BodyKit (http://www.mx5mania.com.au/product1669.htm) - mind you, I'd be paranoid about every speed bump and driveway.

Thanks for all your help guys! I was still undecided about whether it was worth putting a body kit on. It was the only one that I've found that I liked, otherwise, I was of the opinion that mx5's didn't need a body kit. And with all the problems you have mentioned, which were the same reasons why I hadn't already bought it, I have decided not to get it and to do other things, like get new wheels for it with that money :)

You don't see many on the roads nowadays, as they are worth a lot of money and are so collectible, that people don't drive them anymore.

Mind you, I also thought they looked hideous when they first came out, and even more so today.

Have you looked into smaller body mods instead? You should look up Garage Vary or even the OEM front lips. they make a huge difference to the car as well as rear lip and a ducktail spoiler. It sticks with the cars body theme and isn't as extreme as a full kit. Then factor in wide low offset wheels and camber and you suddenly have a completely different and very badass mx5!

I used to pass by one daily on my way to work with a damaged spoiler that didn't get fixed and got progressively worse. I assumed it was just too expensive to fix. Who'd have "thunk" they'd turn out to be collectables? They always looked so brittle and tacked on to me.

Agree that they looked ugly then and still do.
