side mirror adjustment

Postby Oceanroader » Mon Jun 14, 2010 10:41 am

Help please
Manual passenger side mirror will not stay in its adjusted position at speed.
Is there an adjustment to stiffen it up so as to speak ?

My guess (as I haven't pulled one apart) is there is a tensioning screw and a spring underneath the ball.
Normally accessed by removing the complete mirror from the door and look inside

Have to remove the entire mirror.

Then you can get an 8mm ring spanner on the nut to tighten.

How do I know? I've started stripping my spare ones for repainting cos the plastic colour is fading.

Cheers

Thanks Jeff, handy bit of information.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Hi guys, I'm bumping this to remind myself on doing this.

My NA8 driver side mirror is loose and I've been told it's the retaining nuts and the door metal that's stretched/loose. Hopefully it's fixable.

Greg, I am after your old NA8 wheels (have PMd); have you posted any pics of the car? Seems pretty tasty! I noticed you bought these wheels in another FS thread, hence not needing the 14s. I'd love to see your garage thread or a pic of your car.

These minilite go so well on NA!

Thanks,
Ben

Looks hot, those wheels really suit.
