front window has been crushed in a roll over when the roof was off, it is laying flat on the dash, how hard is it to replace this piece??? has anyone done it b4? i would imagine its just a matter of unpicking the piece and welding back on, any info on how far down the door jam the window surround goes etc would be a great help thanks in advance

thats a pretty structural part of the car...unless you are going to make it a track only car, there is no way you will get it registered for the road

You are asking a question about a major structual part of the car on a public forum....what answer did you expect.... Take the car to an engineer...not a panel beater and get the answer there.

Are you asking about the windscreen pillar? I am sure I have seen something here or elsewhere about replacing this, try search, and if that doesn't work head over to the big board and see what the yanks say about it. However, you will need to think about the structural integrity of any repair. Having said that, I am not sure the issue is as big as a first reading of the comments above might suggest.
No, unpicking the bits would not be the way to go, get a replacement from a dealer or wrecker. I think you will find it goes down into the structure of the car, but I could be wrong about that.
I don't know that the comment about the roof (I presume we are talking about a hardtop) being off has any relevance, its non-structural, and has all the strength of a wet tissue in an accident and would have made no difference to the outcome.

maybe the question is not real clear, have a look at the pics might give you a better idea
what happens when you clip the back wheel and say hi to the road head first, luck no passenger because it nearly ripped the top of the chair off

Hmmm - looks familar
The window surround is actually 6 pieces - innner and outer pillars (2 sets) and upper and lower top piece. It joins the body just above the top door hinge. From memory there may be some other parts welded on top (bonnet mounting plate and dash mountings).
Not easy but do-able I think - but I would not attempt a repair like this (ie at home) - to risky IMHO

Ouch! Someone up there was working really hard for you that day!
Planning a rollbar installation as well, or do you feel like the luck will keep holding?
(why won't the smillies work for me? - that was meant to be a lighthearted comment)
If I had been riding that one out, I think I would be now looking around for something with a good, strong roof.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've just purchased that car from the auctions and intend to fix it yourself to on-sell. As mentioned that piece is an important part of the car and I would not trust any backyard fix. I would also imagine it would affect the fit of the roof and the doors so needs to be done perfectly.
A professional panel beater would probably shy away from that job.

its done 36oookm original, the right mirror clipped the side wall on the freeway tunnel then darted across the road and the lip that is b4 the other wall flipped the car up to its side and ground along the wall on its side, came back to its wheels and drove it to the parking bay
yes very lucky, yes can be fixed just got a quote from a very good crash repairer and he said he has done one b4, not a big job one=ce the dash and everything is stripped but time consuming he said, and yes i bought it back, tried to neg with insurance direct but they wanted mnore then the grand i o0ffered them and they were rite it went for more but had to have it

Well sounds like a wild ride - glad you were OK at the end of it. I figured there had to be something different about how this happened - didn't figure on a tunnel though.
Anyway if you are handy with a spanner and screwdriver you should be able to prepare the car before you take it to the repairer. As you have stated stripping all the bits out is time consuming - but not difficult. Take everything off you can at home and get it transported to the repairer - a car trailer would do as you can still move the car under power (not drive) with hardly anything in it. Somthing like this - maybe you can leave a few bits on
