Paint my roof!

Postby Mr nanotech » Sun Feb 21, 2010 5:10 pm

Hey this is to anyone who can spray and lives in Geelong. I already have a guy who can do this but due to his busy schedule, It could be a looooooong time before he will paint my car.

Basically, I have a red na6 with hard top. The pain on the pillars and hard top has oxadized to the paint where the paint looks like chalk, however the rest of the car is alright. What I want to do it gloss black my hard top, a-pillar and mirrors. So in other words, my car will be red but everything above the window line is blacked out.

If anyone wants to tell me this is a bad Idea or that it will look bad, take your subjective opinion somewhere else because it's not wanted here, I know what I want to do! I just need someone who can do it. I'm HOPING to get this done on a decent enough budget by the way, I don't want to spend a couple of grand doing this when I could use that money to rebuild my engine, get cold air induction and replace the shoddy window motors with that kind of money.

So if anyone is interested or even if people reading this can throw out some figures so I know what I'd be looking at, It would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Give Blacksells in Dew South Geelong a try, this is the sort of work they do and I would be surprised if it cost you more than $800.

If you want to save some money then I would think that painting it in acrylic might be the way to go. A solid colour is easier. If you do most of the prep work yourself it will reduce the cost as most of the cost of painting is in preparation. Any repair shop will have painters who can do the job- ask them for a cost in acrylic or baked and see if there is a difference. My guess is that anything going in an oven carries an additional overhead??

The Gordon will do it for you cheaply. Stranger had his bonnet resprayed for $130 to a high degree (checked off by teachers)
I'm a very early apprentice (sort of) so I can't do it, but I'll get you the number of the guy you need to speak to about it.

Yeah that would be fantastic if you could! Just PM me or something whenever. I'm not desperate to get it done right away but yeah that's unreal. Can't wait to find out more
