My '97 NA8 has one of the mirrors that glue on to the windshield. I've tried all sorts of glues and procedures but it keeps falling off.
I've noticed that the early NA mirrors attach on to the top of the windshield, possibly using the interior light as a mount.
Is there any problem in finding the earlier type mirrors and retrofitting it to an NA8?
Cheers...

Go see a windscreen place, and ask them to stick it back on for you. They have the proper glue, and it shouldnt cost much.
I dont think you could use the early mirror, as there is no mount under the light. You could probably mod it to fit, but its not worth it. Go get a shop to stick your one back on.

I have refitted quite a few in my time with great success (though my 'time' fixing cars was last century) and the key was to do it by the book. Buy the right glue - Repco, autObarn etc sell a rear view mirror adhesive [permatex brand from memory] and follow the instructions to the letter (with 1 exception).
You need to have the both surfaces clean as clean as clean so dont forget to mark the outside of the windscreen with a whiteboard marker so you know where it goes. It should be so clean that you would have no idea where it goes otherwise.
When you glue the silver bit on to the glass, it goes without saying that the mirror shouldnt be attached. Stick it on and tape it in to position. If the instructions say to leave the silver bit glued on for 2 hours before refitting the mirror, leave it 24. If it says 24, make it 48 (the exception to following the instructions.)
Hope that helps. Its a bit like the carpenters rule of measure twice, cut once. This time is do it properly, do it once.

Get an NA6 upper trim 89 ~93 and it is mounted on the trim panel instead of the glass. Just swap out the newer NA8 panel for the older panel. Easy fix. You can probably still source the parts new and used with little effort.
