My 99 NB has red leather inserts on the standard Nardi steering wheel and a matching red gear shift boot. I thought the previous owner had done this but I was told by a MX-5 parts supplier today that this was actually a package you could order or was a special edition. Has anyone heard of this ?

Hi ANZTieN,
Here's a photo of the steering wheel and the gear shift boot, I replaced the gear shift boot today and I believe it's a genuine part as it was identical to the new factory one in design and fit, just in red leather !

It's dealer option but the work is mostly done locally. In Melbourne, blackman & sons did most of the interior trimming, Such as leather seats, steering wheels, ect

I tend to agree. The leather on the steering wheel matches the spots where the blue leather should be on a 10th Anniversary Edition NB8A, and they've also got a blue gear boot rather than red.
Have to admit though, never seen the red one before.

I still think the 10AE should have been offered in more than one colour, the red looks great

AB7's tip is probably a good one. Blackman's seem to have a good reputation and do a lot of work on classic cars though some say they are a little pricey though that is something everyone has to check for themselves.
