G'day all...
Looking at possibly having side windows on my NA6 tinted (rear is plastic). Sussed out three places (all Brissie based):
(a) Tint a Car
(b) TINT mart
(c) tintplus
Any of you had good, bad or indifferent experiences with any of them?
Have you dealt with another company that's done a terrific job?
What level of tint did you go for?
Any problems with reduced night vision?
Any problems at all?
Things to be aware of?

If you stick to the darkest legal tint (or lighter) you shouldn't have any viability problems at night.

i've got 21% tint on mine..

although they're below the legal standard, its fine for me to drive in at night. its a bit dark but u get used to it pretty quickly.

I am using express window tinting tommorow to do my ute
they have an advert for normal cars for 99 bucks for just the uv tint 200 for darkest legal for a normal car

be aware because of all the fine increases particularly phones and seatbelts
if police cant see you they will book you for the illegal tint and they will then track down the fitter that fitted it and fine them as well
So a lot of tint places wont do the 'cash' jobs now cause the fines are quite high

not to mention if you have an accident blah blah blah!

When I got the windows tinted on my CRX they shop made me sign a clause on the bottom of the recept that said I understood this tinting was illegal for street use and was intended for racing/show purposes only.

I have a fairly dark tint on mine - not sure if its legal as it came with the car! I've found that when motoring quickly into downhill tight right handers there is a lack of visibility through the quarter vent window. Gets annoying in places like Tassy where your'e doing that all day...

I got Tint A Car F1 done at their Milton branch. Very happy with the result, even though the tint on the back window lifted slightly around some of the demister strips... Took it back, and they fixed it within about 5 minutes. The Milton branch does all the tinting for Porsche Centre and Ferrari, Lambo and Maserati in Brisbane. They also took note of any pre-existing damage on my car before they started, which i signed off on. Very happy with their service. Oh, and the F1 tint has a 25 year warranty.

Well worth the investment though. The car is noticeably cooler as a result, and doesn't look too bad either.

Don't forget the tint rating must be 35% light transmission or it is not legal. I have a mate who's business is window tinting and has been for 25 years. Pity you don't live in Melbourne otherwise I would refer you to Cartint in Ringwood.

Side windows are very easy to do yourself which makes it cheap. The hardtop window is another matter however

Took the plunge and had my windows tinted at Tint-a-Car, Capalaba (Brissie for you out-of-towners) last Friday. Had the F1 tint done. Have to leave the windows up for 48 hours. The business owner says the curing process takes up to a month.

Quality of work is excellent. The film disappears well down below the window seal with the window edges well trimmed. Comes with a life-time warranty. 'Life-time' means for however long I own the car (had it for 16 years, go another 16?) Had the car back in less than two hours.

Cost me $170. Was the most expensive of the three quotes I got, but I temper that because I felt comfortable with the Tint-a-Car crew. They know their stuff, and Kim lives up to her job title of 'Sales Champion'. The other businesses were either disorganised or not showing the level of enthusiasm I would expect (and with the general shortage of $$$ out there, ya gotta lift your game).

Can't use Windex anymore just a moist chamois - chemicals can ruin the film.

I can't believe you took you 16 years to get it tinted.

Anyone else reading who lives in the hotter parts of Australia just do it, for the cost of a few tanks of fuel you get a cooler car, better sun protection and it's harder for thieves to look into your car to consider stealing your stuff.

reduces uv exposure to the dash cracking it & reduces sunburn too, provided the roof is up anyway.

plus it looks damn good too.

My toy sits in the sun all day at work. I went to auto barn this week and bought two 600 mm. sun blockers and use one on wind screen and the other on the back ( glass) window.They only cost about seven bucks each. Car is so much cooler and I feel much better about the uv not getting at my dash. Good idea to do the side windows next with tint.
When I visited Geelong years ago I could always find my Queensland car as the only one with tinted windows. Now , sadly, I live down here.

Get the rear glass window tinted too

I can't see any point in tinting my MX windows.
When it's sunny the roof and windows are down (no value in tint there).
When its raining its not hot or bright enough to need a tint (the only time my roof goes up).

Must admit have darkest legal tint on my daily driver
