I was wondering if anyway has had any expiriences with seat covers that actually look like retrimmed seats. Preferably in leatherette.

If so, details, if not has anyone had them retrimmed in vinyl? and howmuch?

leatherette is not leather- it is synthetic. Covering seats in vinyl is very common and many of these products are quite hard to tell from leather as they mimic grain patterns and good quality material lasts a long time and may feel quite soft. An old term used to be VCF which was vinyl coated fabrics and this may very well fit the general description of leatherette. I would guess a trimmer might charge anything from about $300 upwards per seat.

Well thats the reason i wanted eatcovers, save money and trouble doing it yourself. You would just be better off getting it done professionally!

A friend bought fitted leather seat covers off this guy for his Honda Prelude. They went on perfectly, took about 15min to install and look the goods.

He organised a group buy on the preludeaustralia forums and I think he got the price down to $600 for two colours + different coloured stitching + embossed lettering. Only down side was that it did take a good month and a half longer than the 1-3 weeks that he was originally told.

I even think I've seen this guy advertising MX5 ones before too.

If you re read the link it is obvious that the covers are not leather- hence the term leather look. There are trimmers all around Aust who can do this work and at different price ranges. If you buy locally you can see the quality of work and have some warranty and confidence. The e bay product may be ok and maybe not - they will be made in low cost countries from patterns and with materials that you have no control over. Good luck if you are not happy with the quality.

and i think mx5parts are top blokes to deal with, should there be any problems whatsoever.

I had a good friend of the family quote me 8-900 for 1500 dollars worth of work which included black leather with charcoal suade inner and suade inserts on the doors. Good price but not good for me :S

Actually anyone know of lightweight seat with removable seat cover, so you can clean love stains off it easy and shed the weight when you hit the track?
