The rear plastic window on my wife's NA is damaged. Does anyone know of a place that can replace the plastic window with a glass one

Tom - suggest you do a search- there is a quite a lot of info on this subject.

Just something to keep in mind. The glass weighs quite a bit more than the plastic and will place extra strain on the soft top, especially the rear zipper (assuming you retain it). I know it will cost more, but in the long run if you want a glass rear window then I would suggest getting an after market glass window soft top which includes the conversion kit needed for fitting to a NA roof frame, or see if a wrecker has a NB frame and soft top available.

x2 what Juffa stated, but unless you are a competent DIY'er I would try to find a complete top from an NB.

x3 I've seen some really cheap NB soft tops and frames getting around lately and for the little extra it costs it would be worth it

i have an na6 and recently bought a complete nb roof with frame and all for $650. best thing iv'e done to the car yet.

Why would you buy a softop just because the rear window is damaged. All plastic windows are subject to UV damage and replacing the screen is merely a maintenance requirement. Many trimmers are capable of doing this work. I might add many people throw their shoes away when the heel wears down- I have new heels fitted at 20% of the cost of new ones.

I understand what you are saying, however the question was about replacing the plastic window with glass. I believe that there are people out there that have replaced their plastic window, with glass......it would be interesting to read their take?

Juffa's is right about the glass and I was not sure if it is retro fittable.I did read a post on this subject somewhere or perhaps it was on the Miata site, I noticed a Z3 today and they have a plastic rear window.

And here's the kicker... it's crazed more than the rear window on my NA MX5 ... lord knows how he can see through the back as he drives with the roof up more often than me...

But that's a matter of circumstance!

Personally I like a little rearward vision
hence the roof is almost always down to get rid of the 15yr old plastic...

Ironically I appreciate rearward vision more when going forward... for awareness sake... helps me stop the numbnuts tailgating me from rear ending me at the lights...
Sure it'll be their fault... but I ain't draggin myself through all the litigation just because they can't drive with a little consideration

+1 on that.

I would look for ANY reason to replace that rotten plastic window. Even a bird pooping on it would be cause enough after having enjoyed an Nb roof on a Na for some months now.

If all else fails, just leave a box cutter on your Na roof while parked at woolies or where ever & shannons will help you buy a new one.
