Centre console lid hinge

I have a NB8A which has the long centre console bin with a top that hinges on the left. The hinge is a long soft plastic strip and is now cracked open along much of its length. Probably been elbowed a few too many times when left open as a drink holder. It is not the best designed part of the car!
Has anyone successfully glued this plastic hinge? What glue do you recomment? Can it be glued without removing it from the car?
On the really hopeful side, is anyone stripping down a NB and wants a few dollars for the bin lid with a good hinge??

Mine is broken too
I highly doubt you'll beable to glue it together
first of all where its cracked is where it lets the top open and close
and if you decide to glue it well its gona stay in one position

I also tried Mazda Auto Recyclers in Moorooka today (an MX-5 Club sponsor to support). They didn't have one and kindly checked a few other \"recyclers\" for me. They commented they very rarely get a wrecked NB through their premises. Lets hope its a long, long time before they get another one!
If no-one has a better suggestion I might try a thin strip of black gaffer tape on the inside of the lid to reinforce the hinge - not really kosher and it might just cost a heap of points at the next show & shine but it will keep the lid functional for a while.

Here's a qik idea.
How about a thin sheet of lexan like what model car shells are made out of.
Cut it the same size as the existing hinge and use a little clear silastic to hold it in place. When it breaks it should be fairly easy to keep replacing the lexan providing you don't use too much silastic.

Interesting thought. Would it come in black? I guess it easily be painted with model paint. Any idea where to buy it in south end of Brisbane?

Hobby shop(Mt Toys Mt gravatt) or bunnings.
The reason i thought of lexan and clear silastic is the colour of the plastic would show through.
