Hey Guys,
My car has this very annoying squeaking sound whenever i'm on bumpy road, or pretty much anything that makes my car vibrate. It sounds like there are mice in my car.. Squeak Squeak!
It first started coincidentally when i removed my centre console.. I removed the console again this morning and tightened up all the bolts.. Still same squeaky sound whenver I go over bumpy road or speed bumps..
Any clues? I've tried reading up on miata.net but no help there..
TIA.

I had a similar sounding squeak. Came from my ECU mounts.
If its coming from the passenger side, check that the passenger footwell plate and ECU is tight.

my passenger seat squeaks when empty, I just recline it as much as it will go so it's wedged against the BD bar to put some pressure on it and it stops

If you think it has something to do with the console, take it out and test drive.
I had a squeek in my NA - it was actually the rubber stoppers for the boot lid. A very thin smear of Armorall fixed it.

... and the switch on mine that told the alarm that the bonnet was open squeaked on mine.
Mate, it could be anything! I'd suggest (gently) pushing and pulling on your centre console and see if you can reproduce the squeak. It'll be easier to find then.

I found that my radio was rubbing against the inside of the console, a bit of foam tap fixed that.
Then the metal clips that the radio screws into started rattling, more foam tape...
The bonnet tends to squeak on the catch and rubber stoppers. Lubricate the catch and put felt pads on the rubber stops.
I also found the door trims (cards) would squeak against the door. I padded this with yet more foam tape.
A dull plasticy rattle turned out to be sides of the dash vibrating. I'm referring to the part that is covered by the doors when closed. This was solved by stuffing the cavity between the metal dash ends and the plastic ends with blocks of soft foam. This stops the plastic resonating, hence no more rattle.
Also try securing any loose cable looms behind the dash with cable ties.
Could I recommend you buy a roll of foam tape?
I still have a metallic buzz coming from the centre console which occurs around 3000-3500 rpm. Very annoying, and I just can't trace it. I'm sure it's NOT heat shields rattling.

Try moving the bottom of the dash down near where the console attaches. If you hear the squeak it could be the screw near the back of the centre pocket in the console just in front of the heater box that holds the dash to the transmission tunnel. You'll need to climb in behind the dash to tighten it up with a stumpy phillips head screw driver. While your under there you can tighten up all the other screws that hold the plastic dash to the metal frame, they will probably be loose too.

Is this your car?
That would explain the squeak

I once had an auto Pajero iO where the overdrive button had some play in it and squeaked. Drove me nuts trying to find where it was coming from. I know this doesn't help you at all, just thought I'd share.

squeaking for me too.
Being an older car, there's soooo many things that could be the cause, I don't think I'll ever find it.
