Chasing leaks

While washing my car the other day, NA6 for those of you playing at home, my girlfriend who was sitting in the car noticed that there was water dripping off the accelerator pedal. On closer inspection the drivers floor mat was fairly wet, but I couldn't see where it was coming from. I've never noticed it before, but then again I wouldn't notice a wet floor mat as I wouldn't have bare feet.
Has anyone else seen this happen before? Any ideas where it could be coming from?

well i'd be guessing that you might have a leak somewhere.

Hey; he's right! Water is getting from the outside to the inside!
You are so learned, fatty.
Welcome Jeo! (I hope that isn't a typo and your name is actually Joe. That'd be funny)
Anyhow; were you washing the engine bay? There are some holes in the firewall for wiring to go through, and water could get through them and wet your floor mat.
Good luck with it.

I don't suggest using one of the Laser washes to find the leak.

My friend had a similar leak in her NA6. The weld that held one of the relay brackets on under the dash had cracked and water was coming in from the air plenum at the base of the windscreen.

Hehe, yep real name is Joe but on 'teh interwebs' I'm Jeo.
Nope, wasn't washing the engine bay at the time but its still probably worth checking.
I had noiced that the relays weren't attached to anything when poking around under the dash yesterday so that would make sense Garry.
Thanks all

who was it that posted, late last year, a similar-sounding leak.
A guy from Sydney I think. His footwells became pools after being parked in the rain overnight.

Just in case future people were wondering how I fixed the problem, as per Garry's advise, water was coming in at the bottom of the windscreen. Chased back to where that relay bracket had broken off and jammed it full of silicone. It didn't look like a hole, nor could I see through it, but its a few wet months later and I haven't seen any problems since.
Thanks again Garry
