My tint in my mx5 is a bit sad these days and I'm thinking of replacing it.

Can anyone recommend a place in Sydney?

(I've tried to use the search forum section but if I put in tint or tinting nothing comes up?)

timetorelax - Sydney is a big place and there are many who carry out this work. Suggest you give an area or ask around your stamping ground. Most repair shops will have someone on their books who does a good job

Sliq put me on to a guy out in Concord. It's basically him and his brother doing tinting. It's a bit back yardish, but the tinting film is top notch and the job itself is pretty good.

Basically, they do professional building window tinting, and so they've got access to all the materials and tools to do cars easy, so they do them on the side for some extra cash.

Tinting cost me $120 for the rear glass, the windows, and the little triangular windows. That was December last year.

The guy's name is Boyd and his phone number is 0412 081 213.

Yeah, it's incredibly cheap, and it's quite a good job too. The tint hasn't bubbled or anything like that, and is still going strong since getting it done in December. No signs of fading or anything like that.

I've just booked my car in for next Saturday. I don't want the rear window tinted so they quoted me 100 bucks! Bargain!

Why not? Unless of course you have a plastic rear window. I haven't noticed any less visibility out the back with a tinted rear window.

I don't need it. Its already tinted but it is very old and needs replacing. As the mx5 is my second car (only used on weekends) I only drive it with the roof down 8)

 fair call.

That being said, it might look a bit odd with mismatched tinting. If our positions were swapped, I'd just pay the difference and get the rear done as well, but of course it's all personal.

When they finish, look over the little corners in the triangles. Although the tinting itself is great, and it was all applied flawlessly, they didn't trim the tinting to my exacting standards, so there may be some corners that don't get quite covered. Check up on it before you drive off.

Also, clean your windows thoroughly yourself. Although they do it for you, they might miss spots, or not really go over the window hard enough to get rid of, for example, remnants of a sticker.
