boot release cable?

Has anyone cut the boot release cable from inside the car?
ie they cant open the boot of the car when they break in.
After cutting the cable does the remote still open the boot?
(I want to leave my lappy and my GPS in the boot)

Mazda kindly built the console boot release temporary disable function into the NB at the factory. Maybe someone at Mazda reads miatanet?

I just insert the key into the lock and turn in opposite direction, it deadlocks the boot so that the cable release doesn't work anymore
quick, easy, no mods required

in my old car, i had one of the central locking servos connected to the boot lock, and the power was coming from the ignition, so if you wanted to open the boot, you needed to have the key in the ignition.
if you have some electrical knowledge its pretty easy, but a little time consuming to put it in,

Tempted to just cut/remove the little lever in the centre console...

why dont you open the boot and take the cable off the hook from the boot lock? i have not attempted to do it in mx5 but i am sure it would not be too hard to do...

Duuuuuuuude, you can just unhook the cable, no cutting required !

my NA6 has this, fitted by previous owner. i will be removing it to save weight .
i have removed many other non essential items from my car already...... rather than just talking about it all the time i actually am doing something to save weight
