Never really understood why mazda went with those clumsy clear rear tail lights. I reckon these ones look so much better

all that is, is red tint over the stock taillight, it would be good if they made that an option but.

funny, every NA owner busts their nuts to get clear taillights, then when Mazda actually make them standard, they got it wrong

i wouldn't say they got it wrong, rather i think it doesn't suit everyone's tastes. I personally prefer a clean, consistent uncluttered look and the OEM clear tail lights have too many things happening inside the light.

Alert but not alarmed, I just went out and did a spot check on mine - nothing happening at all in there. :P

Not sure if AJ is joking re \"did the same, nearly had a heart attack when i accidently hit the unlock button & my clear tailights flashed orange!! Shocked ............what's that about? The reason is that it merely gives you a visual signal ( bulb is amber) that you have triggered the remote. When you walk away from the car and cannot remember if you locked it- you go thru the sequence and the lights tell you. Some vehicles flash once for lock and twice for unlock.
Lights apart from being functional also are fashion statements hence peoples choices on liking clear lenses.Car makers try to meet what the customer wants. Your OE lamps are far more likely to be better executed than aftermarket products. Cheap acrylics in aftermarket lamps fade much faster than oe lamps. OE lamps with visual faults normally end up scrapped and not getting to the customer.
