this is what i used:
1. car wash with dishwashing liquid to remove old wax
2. meguiars clay bar
3. meguiars fine cut cleaner (with orbital polisher) to remove swirls/scratches- i dont like this product; leaves too much splatter and doesnt give the best results.
4. kitten polish - any polish will do i reckon.
5. meguiars NXT liquid wax - do 3 coats over 3 days and put it in the sun after each coat - i actually prefer this in paste form to give a more even application.
took about 1.5 days...but it was worth it...the products dont really matter. step 3 is the most important to remove the swirls/scracthes on any black car. ive gotten quite good at using the orbital polisher now

Nice job.
When are you coming over to do my car? I haven't polished my car since I won my class in the 2004 concours and the paint looks like I wash it with a scourer.

haha garry. i tell ya what, ive really given up on trying to REMOVE the swirls on black... ive found swirls are a fact of life with black cars no matter how carefully you look after the paint....
ive been experimenting with diferent waxes that hide swirl marks between full details like this

so far, the meguiars CLEANER WAX paste works the best...

Very nice indeed. I'm looking forward to doing that to my car. Don't know when I'll get around to it (it depends on my mate wanting to do his car too, considering it's his kit and all. Although I do get some rights to use it considering I bought it for him

) but it should be interesting. I'm sure after the first few goes it'll become second nature using the buffer.

Did you use the clay bar all over the car or only on certain spots where it was needed?

Looks brilliant. I had a pictue of my car all shined up, but white never gives the same sort of reflections as black ;)

hmmm i done my mates white Type S recently....certain waxes make lighter colours really look deeper and richer...
almost gave it a deep pearly effect.
