They are available. I got mine on ebay, they are not an original Mazda part, but they look good and do the job. There should be some available, if not from the Aussie suppliers then from the USA, or UK.

As far as i know these are pretty hard to come by. I think they only came on the LE's (someone correct me if im wrong) There's usually some available on ebay in the UK and US except they say Roadster or Miata not MX5. I guess you could make a plate up to cover it. If someone knows where you can get mx5 scuff plates id also be interested.

Not genuine, but better than nothing: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id/626

I'm sure they were accessories available from Mazda at the time.

If you are talking about the stainless steel plates that covers the whole sill and hangs over about 1cm, then I believe these came fairly standard on JDM Eunos Roadsters, US delivered \"Miata\", and certain UK delivered MX-5s. All NA's.
NB's had different designs, with black or tan rubber underneath. There are actually a few different OEM scuff plates.

They are hard to come by, and because of that they fetch a bit of a premium.

Hunt around eBay, be patient and persistent, and you can find a bargain. I did.

I bought a set of stick-on ones from Repco only a few days BEFORE I found my bargain on eBay. Aaargh!

I am starting to understand why Imports are generally disliked by owners of Aus delivered ones.

Uh-huh [nods head]. And don't forget, alot of other country's "MX-5s" get airbags and other goodies standard that wasn't even an option here.
