Looks fantastic, all I need is a black SE and i'll start copying you.
Our muffler has been black for years, I think it's a great cosmetic mod that costs bugger all.
Are the side indicators clear enough for people to see? Did you buy the \"smoked\" ones or just make your own?
You should also have a go at \"shaving\" your side markers, it's not that difficult and you won't need to do a perfect job if you're going to spray \"nightshades\" over them anyway. Then they'd be nice and smooth like your paint job.

okibi, i used nightshades and the blinker light is still very visible when blinking.
i didnt do the reflectors totally black either...you can still see them reflect at night...i was after the 'smoked' look as you can see...not all out black.
how did u 'shave' them might i ask? sandpaper?

I used a flat razor blade to take most of the lettering off, used a very find sandpaper to get them flat then wet sanded them with a cutting compound to get them back to a mirror like surface.
The other 2 I did at work and didn't have any cutting compound so I stole some ajax kinda stuff from the cleaners cupboard, it had a \"grit\" in it and worked just as good.

Nice. Black on black on black on black....
I've done some blacking out too. 20% window tint. Smoked indicators. I tinted the reflectors but replaced them back with originals because they didn't exactly reflect much light after the nightshades. I have been thinking about the taillights too but don't have a spare if i stuff up. Might do them \"lightly\" one day.
Here a pick of my muffler (taken with crappy phone camera) sprayed with 800 degree celsius heat resistant paint. Still perfect after a couple of months. Was afraid that they might flake or get sandblasted off based on reports from miata.net
Every MX-5 owner (NA+NB+NC) should black out their mufflers. The silver crap sticking out below the bumper is ugly.

I want to do the opposite (the rear bumper is a big sail), rather than hack it up Gurglr style I want to build in a diffuser.

You would have to start at the front of the car or the rear of the engine bay to stop air getting up under it.
Time and effort to smooth the bottom of the car wouldn't be worth the benefit on a daily driver.
