hit and run :(

Postby PaoPee » Thu Oct 04, 2007 11:27 am

so anyways
i came back to my car and found someone doesnt know how to park. It appears that someone tried to get into the parking spot next to me or while they were leaving the spot, they accidently hit my car.

Of course they didnt leave any details or anything but they did leave me with a large symetrical dent on the passsenger door :(

sorry dont have pics on me atm as im at work atm, but it appears that there is not structuarl damage and all the damage done is just at the door.

so access is like 500 bucks, just wondering if panel beaters can do something like bump it back into place properly and repaint the door, dont know if this is cheaper or just get a whole new door?

im really sad atm :(

Sorry to hear that :(
Some ppl just dont have common courtesy, someone did that to my old car a few years ago.

BTW if there is no paint damage then you may be able to get the dent 'knocked' back up. Look around for \"Paintless Dent removal\", they are plenty in Sydney and the wil be cheaper than your $500 excess.

there is some paint damage
like scratches from a car
yea i was figuring to either just get the bump bumped back and leave the scratches, i dont times like this makes me think just sell up and get a 1000 bomb

how much is a passenger door these days lol
i guess this would not be a cheaper option.

If you were in a parking lot, ask the owners for a copy of the security tape of the time you think the accident happened.
You might just find out the rego number of the moron who did this and then you can pay them a little visit..............

I know how you feel, having had something similar happen to my Outback recently (Thank god it wasn't my MX-5).

Hope you are able to track down the culprit.

Do you park in the same spot most times, if so do you see the same cars around you. Is it would looking to see if you can spot a car with some of your paint on it.....or as Beeny said see if there is security camera footage available?

Join the club. Had this happen to me a while back on my front bumper. Got a nice scrape across the front.

Incidentally, I left the damage for ages because I wasn't going to go through insurance for ages. Lo and behold, I rear ended someone last week, so at least I didn't waste ~$400 on a respray only to shell out another $1200 for the bloody insurance excess...

Sorry to hear that Pao. Same thing happened to me earlier this year - got back to my car to find someone had hit the rear bumper. Drove off without leaving a note or anything. I've been quoted up to $750 to fix mine

Was too busy to cry. Had a shitload of work to do that day, which probably contributed to my impatience, which could have had something very possibly to do with the accident.

I love being vague.

Meanwhile, the Just Car assessor came out today to look at the car. Luckily enough, he chose Hume as the repairer because the other place I went to didn't quote damages on the lights where the plastic brackets that hold the lights to the frame were cracked/broken. It's off to Hume I go. Although it's going to be interesting getting to work after dropping the car off.
