Quality auto painter in Brisbane

Hey,
I recently picked up a red hardtop for my white '93 car, I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a painter for the top in Brisbane to do a descent job at not an extreme price, is affiliated with the mx5 club of QLD etc.
Also wondering if anyone has had it painted to get an idea of what it may cost. I'm pretty positive I'll be going with a black colour.
The red on white looks silly and must be changed asap

If you're painting it black (i.e. not trying to colour match), any decent paint shop convenient to you at the right price should do. There aren't any paint shops advertising with or sponsoring the club at the moment.

The only place I've been satisfied with (not having to go back at least once for a re-submit) is Crawford Crash Repairs at Wacol.

While I haven't had work done there myself, I've heard that Grand Prix panel and paint at Virginia are quite good. I got a quote from them recently and they were reasonably priced. Being part of Grand Prix Mazda (club sponsors) they might* perhaps, maybe, give club member discount.... Worth asking them.

The title pic has been changed and new pics added to the MX5 gallery - much more pleasant photos now

Cheers for the couple of places guys, I shall give them a call

You can't go past Ivan at South East Smash Repairs..... corner Beaudesert and Granard Road, Coopers Plains. He just did my back bumper (someone ran up me cause they were READING while driving... gggrrrr!!!). He was great and he even re-sprayed my front bumper quickly (scratches) and gave me some touch up paint. He's a champ

Sam, I have found some info that may help. Very good reputations - BCM Body Works (Moorooka), Shipstones (Lutwyche area), Whetheralls (Windsor area).

Shipstones can be dodgy with workmanship...thankfully it's only a daily driver(clearcoat lifting in places, looks like it was burned with a buffer)

Whetheralls is where i go to first, great workmanship and very easy to deal with..mindyou they have just been quietly bought out a couple of weeks ago but i have been told the new owner is an absolute car fanatic.

Thanks for the input guys, Windsor and Lutwyche are both pretty good for me as I'm at Aspley, I wouldn't mind getting the front and rear lower lips and the trackdog air splitter painted the same black as I'm planning to get then hardtop painted. I'll just pull all the bits off and give them to the shop and they can get to them when they can really.

I will call them both on monday and have a chat, see what they can do.

Cheers,
Sam

Wondering if anyone has first hand experience of the work done by these guys ... any feedback welcome.

The MINX is going to see Adrian at Caldwell tomorrow.
Booked in for some minor paint touch ups. (pass side mirror and minor scratches) These were existing when I bought the car and its time to fix them.

Adrian wants it for two days - will let you know what I think Friday.
