Another one with new seats

Postby fastfreddygassit » Sun Sep 16, 2007 4:13 pm

Thanks (I think :? too much ca$h) to MEANMX for the inspiration.
As I had black leather seats originally, I wanted the replacements to be the same.
To that end, a set of Autotecnica SP4999LBK adr approved seats were sourced.
Fitting required manufacturing and welding of new brackets, and a compliment of high tensile cap head bolts.
The NA8 seat-belt receptacle is affixed to the original seat so I sourced a set of Mazda 121 (bubble model) receptacle and sensibly (and safely) modified them to do the job.

Impressions?
I sit fractionally higher :frown: but that is slowly changing as the seats bed in.
They are a much more supportive than the original seats.
They look f%$king tuff
Ingress and egress is very good due to the low friction of leather when compared to a fabric seat.
Major downside? If my ass gets any bigger then I am screwed

Nice seats...hmm love your AWD gauge face. I was thinking about getting the same one for NB...but its quite costly :)

they look really great.

i'm keen on some new seats. i really need something that will sit a bit lower than the na6 seats (so i can see the speedo without ducking my head to see past the steering wheel), with a higher headrest (so as to have something between my skull and the rollbar), and a bit more support for spirited driving / trackdays.

those seats look awesome, but you say the seating position is higher, so no good for me. the thing i like about your seats is that they look stockish. i don't like the look of \"race\" type seats. if i could find something like yours, that met my criteria as above, i would buy them in a heartbeat. any ideas , anyone ?

:? :D

Your fat ass has squashed the middle of the seats already, just look at the height of the edges! If you sit any lower in them, you won't see over the radio :P
Nah, they're hot and I can attest that they are comfy, just give them a few more runs.
Cheers!

Ta dude. If I cannot have speed (like Nuno's turbo) or JDM style (Ryans beast) or a NB (rodders) then I'll just have to make mine unique.

ps. I'm not really that short and fat am I fellas?
Fellas??
