ok ok i know i posted this before, but its bugging me, i dont feel safe locking it with a key so i hold the panic button after i turn the key to make it look like its alarm triggered.

for those of you who dont know

the story is that my alarm is deactivated under the bonnet, and when i arm it, all i get is the alarm sound, the keypad doesnt turn it off, nothing does exept turning it off under the bonnet, BUT the keypad does respond because it flashes when i press the buttons (1 flash = lock = middle button) etc, its pissing me off, its been like this for a while, i dont want to take it to a mazda dealer and get charged something stupid for something so simple. i have looked at the mazda book, but the instructions did nothing :frown: please help !

maybe it would be easier to show you guys, i should be at the mx expo if anyone wants to have a crack at fixing it :P

I've got a NB8A as well as the original alarm (upgraded by mazda to include backup battery and microwave sensor, black box under bonnet) and manual that came with it so if u want me to take a pic's of the pages and post them then just let me know

Haven't had the problem you are describing but my alarm goes crazy if the battery is disconnected it just goes off and doesn't stop at all until the battery is reconnected so each time before doing anything I need to turn off the alarm with the special key

1 flash = lock = middle button

hmm sounds strange the middle button unlocks and the top button locks

when i was fiddiling around with my neons, i took the centre console off and i noticed a box, it was the alarm sensitivity thingy that i could adjust, didnt have a mazda logo on it or anything. will post pics up soon.

I got one of them too
it means you have the upgraded alarm system
well i think it does
It looks to me like a microwave sensor ??? can anyone varify this

ok
I have the instructions to reprogram the remote
only thing is it's really really really long
like leave open door disconnect battery for certain amount of time
ignition on then off a certain amount of times
within certain amount of time after this turn on and off again a certain number of times
after vehicle lights flash certain number of times press a certain button on remote
turn ignition to on position
and your done
then
If Unsuccessful repeat above steps

in total you turn on and off ignition a minimum of 34 times
(didn't want to post up entire procedure)
I'll be at the expo so what time will you be there???
hmm wonder how u could find me though hmm
I'll have the green P plates :P with BD rollbar and a custom rear speaker install thing with a big white cable running near the passengers side did I mention my car is red?
well pm me or something i'll be checking forum from about midnight till about 8am tomorrow morning(while i'm at work)
otherwise just try and find me there although not sure how easy that will be

If it's not too much trouble (and not too many pages) i'd love a copy of the alarm book, I don't know if we have one.

If you don't mind you can e-mail them to webmaster@MX5club.com.au and I can pdf them etc.

Thanks Alex you're a champ.

I'd received a couple of these pages before to help me recode my remotes.

It's good to have the entire document.

nope :frown: but simone david and yourself did suggest that it could be the battery in the remote so i think i will replace that and see what happens, it hasnt been changed since we have had the car.

Don't you have a second remote you can test out with?

What happens if you loose your keys?

then i am fooked  i never let my keys get away from me, but maybe i should invest in a new remote for good measure... the one i have now is pretty dodgy.
