I'm after info on stripes for an NA8.
Specifically, how much did the vinyl cost and where did you guys buy it from?
This aimed at Alistair, Ben and Ryan (the only vic guys I know that have stripessss).
I want to do the usual 20cm wide stripe with the 4cm gap in between AND the little outrigger pinstripe (as per the vic prez of vice  ).
Anything I need to look out for with vinyl quality etc?
btw this is an excellent little java app for visualising your NA with stripessss..
Now do I go silver, red or orange?? :P

ooooo fast freddy is going the stripes....

Ben and I got our adhesive backed vinyl from this place in Footscray. Cost me about $120 for vinyl.

Signarama.

Seddon, VIC 3011 Fax: (03) 9687 0012

Just go in there and tell them what you want, and they will cut it all to specs.. The vinyl they use has a ten year guarantee not to fade, so its pretty good stuff. Im sure between you, me and Ben we can have a dodgy day, and stripe your car..

I would probably go silver, or a single gold stripe..

Make sure you use a high quality vynil especially on the bonnet. The heat from the engine can start to disscolour it.

Well it did on mine but i think that may be because the previous owner thought it would be smart to put clear coat over the vynil. :?

You could even put a heat sheet (cant remember name) on the under side of the bonnet.

That is excellent. Just around the corner from work too.
Pretty confident that I'll go silver but have been daydreaming about a "KTM" orange and colour coding the wheels to match.
*sigh*

You are not wrong there....everything I have read about applying stripes has me thinking it will be a 4hr+ job.
I fitted my cams/timing belt/water pump/etc/blah blah blah in less time than that...
I'll get the BBQ fired up, cold ones in the fridge....
Maybe next month...

Be out there mate and go orange. Don't steal my black with green though. I got my stripes for $80 from signarama, 4m I think. When I rang him and first asked he screwed me around though because I asked for them in 20cm width. Quoted me $190 or thereabout. Then I went in there in person and asked how much for 4m of white vinyl and I got it for $80 cut into 20cm wide pieces. I must look scary!! That better be a bloody good bbq with plenty of beer and a lift home afterwards to entice me to get into it again

By the way, my advice from green comet when I was thinking about doing it was DON'T DO IT. I think he is getting over the pain :D

Ryan is actually encouraging me....
Maybe he doesn't like me anymore and wants me to suffer the anguish of being an owner of stripes. Maybe thats why.....

Yeah he seemed pretty happy when I told how hard I found it as well. Maybe a sadistic streak in him. Although you have been mentioning to him quite frequently lately how good your car goes now. Just a thought. Probably get to the fitting day and he will conveniently remember someplace he had to be

Yeah its is a pain to do, I found it hard coz i had never done anything like that before, and couldn't get much information. But if i had to do it again im sure it wouldn't be anywhere near as difficult.

Probably get to the fitting day and he will conveniently remember someplace he had to be Laughing

With Beer and BBQ, there is no other place i would wanna be.. :P

Oh god the three of us are going to have stripes... *shakes head*

I have also heard Alistair state that the guy that fitted his would never do it again.

If you look at the link I posted I thing that you will find that the stripes are pre cut as one piece on a single adhesive backing ie, say you went for the 4 stripe setup, you only have to run one overall piece as it has the four stripes on it.....make sense. Have a look at the link....I hope I read it right......could save a lot of effort

Think I might just have a beer and watch you and Ryan while adding in a few constructive criticisms now and again
