i was washing my nb one day and i was touching up the front bar, i came across the badge and noticed that it was loose, i was curious to see if it was a clip on or just glued on etc. so i pulled it off and it was some type of adhesive, i like it better without the emblem on the front as it gives my nb a sleek look, but there is some adhesive on the bumper still.

so, i am curious, what can i use to get it off that will not damage the paint work?

Depends on the adhesive but try some eucalyptus oil/metho first perhaps?

i heard metho chews paint, hence i havent got the balls to try it lol.

oh yeah have fun with those rims, when i get a flat tyre and dont have a spare i will think of you lol.

Another option for removing badges, is a hair dryer and fishing line. Use the hair dryer to soften the glue, and the fishing line to cut through it. Some decent goo remover will get rid of the residual glue

Has your car had a new bumper cover fitted? I thought the badges came from the factory with little pins holding them on as well as the adhesive. It means if you want to remove the badge then you are left with 2 little holes in the bumper cover. When you buy a new bumper cover the holes are missing though.

Turps is a paint thinner, Don't use that on your paint. Use Prepsol or Prepwash etc. as this is ok on paint

Having the same issues as well when I removed my badge from the NA8
Tried using the bug & tar remover (with some success to a good degree), but there are some really stubborn gunks that just won't let go

Might try that hairdryer and fishing line combo ... sounds plausible

I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that most wax & grease removers/paint prep solutions are turps based - turps won't hurt a decent paint finish unless you really get carried away and rub too hard/often. It will rip into a poor paint finish though. Mineral turpentine is not the solvent used in modern automotive paints - that's why they use different thinners.

mmm i read up about the fishing line and hair dryer combo in a recent hot4's mag, but yeah i didnt think i would to consider it as the goo left on my bumper are no way as bad as what was shown in the pictures =/ i will probably try it later on though. and yeah i have no idea about metho and turps etc thats why i didnt try any of it

De-Solv-It would probably work. It's made for removing general adhesives like whats leftover from taking off stickers/duct tape etc. Even removes chewing gum from hair.

I'd try hitting it with some Meguires paint cleaner, or scratch X first?. Then perhaps Eucalyptus Oil.

The best stuff I found for removing goo after debadging a car, was big kev's goo remover (that was its name too...) It worked a treat, shame they dont sell it anymore

try them stuff on part of your car you wont see first just to be safe. like in the wheel arch/engine bay or under the car some where.

i use eucalyptus oil to wash paint off my hands at work with some hand cleaner... so..... i'd prolly skip the euco

Both the NB8A and NB8B bumpers come with 2 little holes for the badge.

Use \"De-solve-it\" or Maguires Paint Cleaner to remove that glue.

Lies !!! mines a NB8A, there are no holes on the front bumper or the badge. will try the other things tomorow, thanks guys and girls
