Ripped/Cut Roof - Need Help

A friend of mine recently got his roof ripped on his MX5, while parked at a parking station in North Sydney.

Apparently the cut is a right angle rip with about 15cmx10cm in length.

It's apparently as if someone put something heavy on the roof and the corner dug in and cut through the material.

Any advice on the best way to get it repaired?

To get him thorugh the interim, get him to buy some marine tape from a boat store. Apparently that stuff is awesome.

Any vinyl welder will be able to patch that up, don't know any though. To broaden his search, just remember that the covers for ute trays are vinyl as well.

UTICOLOR - ask for robert. he works in and around the hills district. cost me $120 to fix 2 small tears in my roof and you can not even tell it was there after he fixed them...

his number is on yellowpages somewhere.

yeah if the cut is any longer than 10cm, dont bother getting it vinyl welded...doesnt work too well apparently....

also if the cut isnt straight(i.e. if its more of a hole than a cut, vinyl welding doesnt work well)

Go on ebay. There's a company in the UK that sells them for around $600 delivered to your door and are quite quick in getting the goods out apparently. :)

I still don't like that bloke. Promised to come many times at some outrageously early morning hour on a weekend and yet never showed up or called
YMMV of course...

wow... now thats a conspiracy theory!

Slashing soft tops to get us into the new roadster...

Some serious ass kicking would occur if this was true!

Uticolor or more to the point, Robert form Uticolor fixed my slashed vinyl roof recently.

The guy did an awesome job, it had a right-angle tear, one side about 10cm the other around 5cm. I was pretty upset when it got slashed because it was only around 6 months old, but now it's good as new.
You wouldn't even spot that its been repaired unless you knew where to look and had good eyesight. Best money I've ever spent, not even a fraction the cost of a new roof.

My missus was the one he dealt with from start to finish, and unlike some other tradies and mech's he didn't try to con her out of some extra cash, or treat her like an idiot, In fact the price ended up coming in under his own quote !!!!!

Guys, Can't recomend this fella enough to anyone, I'm VERY IMPRESSED !!!!
