Black on Silver is boring. Red, Blue, Purple look good on Silver. But then I loved my Evo Gold MX-5's colour above all others, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Cheers,
Alf

I triple that. It has to be a medium dark shade of red though, definitely not a bright red. Get some colour swatches from the upholsterer and maybe cruise the caryards comparing leather colours.

A former club member had a plumy/purply sort of colour in his silver car that looked great to me.

But yeah, like bruce said, something dark/medium red not bright red like my seats.

You really need to see what colours he has in the leather. When I was having mine done I wanted to use Blackman’s but the blue they had was too dark and very uninspiring. Doyles had a blue that matched the paintwork perfectly so I went with them.

Colour wise, silver goes with almost anything.
Benny has a silver grey colour with MX-5 embossed on the seat back. Others have gone to burgundy with great results.

Think about having the stitching in a contrasting colour also. eg the burgundy with silver stitching or blue with black stitching. You could also have a different colour on the back, say black and the face done burgundy. It’s all a matter of your personal taste.

Remember to have the door inserts done at the same time to tie everything in together. It generally is costed into the seat price anyway. Also look at the gear stick boot and decide if you want that done as well.

I'd say burgundy or maroon. Will look very very nice with a silver 5 :)

Add some black alloys with a polished lip too :) That will complete the look.

Silver looks great with a red interior :) .....but keep in mind, for re-sale it may not be the broader sentiments of others?????

It's like building, if you dont intend on keeping the property for a long time, dont build to your tastes, build for the masses. Just my Opinion

$1000 - $1500 depending on leather used. I had a very nice German leather done for around $1300

Anyone tried out those custom fitted leather seat covers for the MX5? I think they are going for about $600 a pair?

I'd be trying these guys: http://www.blackman-and-sons.com.au/

They used to do all our MX-5's back in the day when I worked at a Mazda dealer. The workmanship is IMO better than factory, then again thats not hard to beat. They can do all sorts of colors and finishes. perforated, swede etc.. They also do the door trims, wheels and gaitors to give your car a matching factory looking finish.

Couldn't find it on their website (and too late to call), but do they do Alcantara? One of the "highly recommended" local mobs tried to fob me off with macro-suede  Nice on the dining room chairs, but I hardly doubt it will survive the rigours of a convertable.

If we mention your name do we get a discount ?
