Wondering if there are any RCA inputs on the back of the OEM cd/stacker on a NB. Anyone manage to hook up an IPOD on an NB without having to change the OEM unit?

I thought that the OEM stacker only came combined with the power unit, like on the Titanium, Classic ed & SE.

The early NB's had a stacker mounted in the boot. The 6 speed NB8B+'s have the stacker built into the headunit. Blackster, there are IPOD adapters around on the net that plug into the 2003+ headunit enabling you to use the head unit controls to control the IPOD. Internet search is your friend.

I have the auxmod basic thingo and it works OK but it doesn't charge the MP3 player or allow you to change the songs using the car head unit. And I keep forgetting to turn my MP3 player off when I get out of the car. I think the newer ones are better with the extra features.

Something like this seems cool to me. Get a cheapo memory stick and fill it with songs and leave it plugged in the car. Change the songs on the stick when you get bored with them.
Does anyone know if pressing the CD button twice on the 2002 modular head units will switch to the optional remote CD player like it says in the instructions? I've never heard of a remote CD player for the 6 speed car head units though it has that extra plug on the back that this thing plugs into.

spikey_simon,
Has the stacker suspension been configured for the correct mounting orientation in your car? When they were installed most seem to have been set up the wrong way by the installer so the suspension doesn't work properly and they tend to skip. From memory there should be some removable covers on the side of the stacker that let you set up the suspension correctly.

Kind of off topic but I have just installed one of these and it absolutely rocks. I am running around with one DVD-R in the car with 86 albums on it
$289
http://www.ryda.com.au/JVC-KD-DV4205-DV ... dv4205.htmYou can buy an IPOD connector for it if thats your bag that will both power and connect the IPOD (160 odd tho)
FYI The price for the deck is about $100 cheaper than JB Hi Fi (proving they do rip off on some things) - and also about $25 cheaper than I paid for mine

There's a few around that should work with the NB stock HU.
Look here:
http://www.advancedice.com.au/and here, this is the better place. I called the guy about putting a unit in my Golf -he was most helpful. They come to you to do the install and have people based in Melb and Syd - I didnt catch your location sorry. I think they also will post a unit to you as well.
http://www.thecarkitcompany.com.au/EDIT - they dont mention the MX5 but worth enquring anyways! I have seen guys on the big forum in the US talk about fitting the Dension to NBs so I think it can be done.

I'm planning on getting something like the Alpine CDA-9852i.
~$400, and it includes a proper connection for an iPod. I've got a 30GB iPod with a broken screen just waiting to go in.
Pretty perfect I reckon. If only it looked crappier, I'd feel a lot more comfortable about parking the car with the top down like I do now.
