Quickly rig up any old lead acid battery to get going again.
Then go do it properly when you get around to it! Would recommend that be within the next 3 months though :P

P.S. Still got a good cond OEM Panasonic in my boot, and by \"my boot\" I mean the wreck that Mania now owns...

You can get away with something appropriate for around $130.00. I got mine from Newells.

My mechanic told me I had to get a dry cell battery rather than the regular wet cells :?:

Yup. Standard lead acid batteries give off small amounts of corrosive fumes, which is fine if the battery's in a well ventilated spot. However, the boot of an MX-5 is anything but well-ventilated :|

Thumbs up for your mechanic. Not many of them would pick that.
