hey guys, i own a 2000 MX-5 (one without foglights) and when we bought it, it came with a proximity alarm. anyways i broke the remote for the alarm (my mum did but thats another story) so i turned the alarm off as there was no use for it. i got my alarm pad fixxed and now when i turn my alarm on in the engine bay (where its located) it wont turn off with the keypad, i have to turn it off in the engine bay  the wierd thing is with the remote, it sends the light signals but it dont turn the alarm on and off ! has anyone had this problem ? what can i do to get my alarm to work normally again ?

What brand of alarm is it?

If I were you, I'd take it to somewhere that sells and installs that brand and get them to sort it out for you...

Sounds like you need to get your remote re-coded to your alarm - there should be some hoodoo-sequence-thing you need to do to reset the system so it all works. Every system is different though so it really depends.

its a mazda alarm =/ dont all mx-5's have an alarm like mine? i dont understand why the remote would have to be reset, when the buttons were broken not the remote itself (i dont think i typed that in the original post because i rushed it  )

Modern alarm systems use a rolling RF code which changes everytime you arm/disarm. When you reset either device (remote or alarm itself) you'll need to re-synchronise the system so they're both talking again :D

I think one of the forum members previously posted the sequence for resetting the stock NB immobiliser - search through the immobiliser threads and you should be able to find it (also, did you check your manual..?)

Ask Andrew about re-setting the alarm  Runs and hides!!!

Seriously though Andrew has done it...Pretty sure Kijima knows too!

I've keyed in new remotes too. Pretty sure Dan or Andrew helped me out.

What's your e-mail address? I'll send you some info.
