Hi Guys,

My front guards have suffered from rubbage of the wheels and they are now slightly bent out

I asked my mechanic to see if he can bend it back to its original position but he is hesitant as the paint might crack.

Has anyone experienced this and bent it back themselves? Ive been quoted $600 to get it fixed by local panel beaters and Id rather spend that dosh on a BD roll bar.

I think I remember one of the members bending their guards back but I forgot who.

where & how exactly are they bent. Do you know if the paint is original.

OK. I'll bite. Why bend them back when the wheels will only bend them out again Maybe you need the correct wheels/tyres or flared guards.

I know that warm paint is softer and less likely to split or peel. So I'd recommend a bit of hair dryer work before any attempted bending.

I think I went over a bump a bit too hard when I was turning and that was what did the damage...

Anyways... here is what it looks like:

Some of the better wheel and tyre places have a machine that can roll the lips of your gaurds and as long as the operator knows what he's doing, it doesn't hurt the paint.

If you just repair it back to the way it was, it will happen again, so unless you have put on narrower tyres, I'd suggest you either roll the lips or get the gaurds flared.

Do you happen to know of a place that does guard rolling? I was told that smash repairers are my best bet but Im sure they are quite exxxy

that will definatly come out with a guard roller
most mag wheel places have them these days

just bolts to your hub and it rock back and forth for 4 or 5 times and its done
bout 30 bucks per arch
Note: don't do the back ones as they are a double lap join

do the baseball bat and a mate approach!

you just roll the baseball bat around the wheel while a mate drives backwards and forwards!

I don't however condone this nor recomend it unless you know what you are doing!
Its the dodgy way of doing it!

if it is lipped though the wheels wont pick the edge again
when its done though you wont be able to have your front inner guards fitted as the holes that they attach to on th lip all get rolled up

long term effect is rock blasting your guards from the inside, not a cool look

you loose either way though just the down side to owning big wheels
