removing steering wheel

Pull harder.

It will pull off, but it might take a lot of effort.

Also: stick the big nut back on the end and thread it on a little ... it'll stop the wheel flying off and breaking your nose.

Bang around on the rim of the steering wheel with your hands. i have to hit with some force a few times before it's loose.

i found pulling alone doesn't work for me.

Put your seat full forward
Hook your knees under the wheel
Wrap your forearms around the front of the wheel
Whack the wheel towards you with both your forearms simultaneously very firmly
Wheel should pop off into your chest/lap

I had a hell of a time getting mine off and what eventually worked was...

Put the nut back onto the column splines, but don't screw it in all the way, leave it at the top to protect the thread. Get a hammer and give the nut a few sharp taps to \"shock\" the metal apart. Tap, tap, tap. Don't get *too* stuck into it as if you manage to snap off the column you will be well and truly stuffed

After that, the steering wheel just slid off with no effort

I've hit it with a hammer before but everyone says thats a good way to collapse your steering column (or bust something expensive).

It's all been said, put the big nut on a couple of threads but not down to the wheel. This will prevent it flying off and smashing your face in... Yes it's been done, not be, but I've seen it.

Give the wheel a few good hard taps from all angles and then put your thighs under it and grab the top of it with your hands, and lever it back and forth. It will probably come undone in a bag bang, but if you have that nut there, your nose will not be bleeding.

go to an auto store and get a steering wheel puller, or make one with a piece of plate steel and drill some holes in it..

It has two holes either side, you screw it down on the boss (the have threaded holes in the base, or should have) and as the screws tighten, the leverage against the column pulls it outwards. Easiest way with no chance to damage the car, or yourself.

I tried that, and in my case the oem boss didn't have the boltholes for the puller to screw into....

here what works for me every time...

take off the bolt, then hold the wheel at opposite sides (e.g 6 and 12, 3 and 9 o'clock etc) and push on one side and pull on the other, keep rotating around at different spots on the wheel and it'll off, oh and a bit of degreaser or WD40 on the stud would help as well. Good Luck buddy!
