but.....
i dont have leather seats and never been in a convertible with leather seats, so could someone tell me if ur fanging around a moutian (high speeds) if having leather seats actually grip u in ur seats, or do u get slight movements?

and to add on to that question.... do you sweat more in leather???

MX5 leather seats are not as comfortable or grippy as std cloth seats, which are not as nice as race seats. I was distinctly uncomfortable in my car with leather seats - they are slippery and are more heavily padded than stock so you sit higher in the car. My race seat is perfect. Buy leather for looks/prestige/smell, stick with cloth for comfort and practicality.
My thoughts anyway...

You sweat heaps if you go out dancing in leather... is that what you meant

How can you bear to wear all that?

Oh and I love the leather seats now, but I'd never have paid to have them fitted aftermarket.

And if you drive an Astra you know all about going dancing in leatherman bars

I have Tan leather in an NB8B and have never found myself sliding around, well not inside the car, the car sliding is another matter.

One thing you really have to be careful of though, and I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, is don't leave the roof down on a hot day. You won't be sweating, since your skin and sweat glands would have been cooked before you have a chance to sweat.

If you want comfort and grip, stay with fabric.
If you want practicality, go with leather.
If you want both then you need to have the leather perforated.

The perforated leather adds grip, makes it a little suppler for comfort. Does little for the breathing though so flip the top up if the car is left in the sun.

And the reason that you sit higher in leather seats is not that there's more padding but the leather doesn’t stretch like the fabric, so you don't sink into the seat as much.

I have leather seats and dont have a problem sliding around, sweating or sitting on them after being parked in the sun. Maybe red doesn't get as hot as the other colours or maybe it's because the bit that I actually sit on is perforated. I do find them a bit cold in the winter but some seat heaters fixed that.

They are easy to clean, durable, smell nice and look a bit more upmarket than fabric IMO. Everyone will have their own opinion though.

I like the leather in my car, they look great feel great but they aren't very comfortable. You tend to slide around a bit and they are really cold on a winter morning for a few minutes.

I want cloth ones because they are more grippy.
