*sigh* We have done this discussion twice before :
http://www.aus-cartalk.com/viewtopic.ph ... ton+martin
and
http://www.aus-cartalk.com/viewtopic.ph ... n&start=15
And I stand by my original statement: Why take something as sexy as the Mx5 and make it bigger, fatter and uglier?
Each to their own, but stay away from my car with the ugly stick!

If you have an issue, your welcome to PM one of the Mods; i've chatted to this forum member and I think they're question is legit.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Not legally thats for sure
Asuming the car is still sitting on an MX5 chassis (no mention of new chassis) it will still need to conform to the specs for wheel track etc
Which means he could run 215's and thats it
With 275's you would be putting the drive train under so much stress as it would be a huge offset to run those numbers and seeing as its still 4 stud , there are probably no modifications to run 245's
Credit to the work involved as I can understand the amount of work!
Probably a better source of tail lights than the new hyundai sonata could have been found
And probably a lot of interior work to bring the car into the next decade would have been better before marketing.
As with anything though it is how one person see's a dream!
Another person see's it differently
Things you don't see though are things like rear crash protection
with a wrap around fibreglass rear bar and the built out back section there seams to be no impact absorbtion area.
If the quater panels are close to the originals then the front headlights dont conform to ADR's as they are too low
Bonnet construction would be another hairy one, with out seeing underneath its hard to say
But again I look at it differently again than the next person
To the average Joe it would look pretty horn but to us (and really who else would pick it to bits than a forum of mx owners ) it seems agricultral or a decent attempt
Remember there have been worse ie the Z3........
The MX in time will be like the bettle with all the different things made on that platform!
Then there are the ones that were done right fully engineered etc like the bullet and so on.
bonnet vs headlight alignment needs bit of work too
probably would have started the bumper to quater panel join under the light so that the join wasn't as long too
Never the less everything goes through stages of getting better!
Who knows this guy might read all the comments go back to his shed and redevelop the car and come out in 12 months time with something we all want to get!
Though tooled up and already marketed its probably a bit late though none the less!
All in all id give it an 8/10
I'd want to see crash protection
mountings of the panels
boot graftings
whats been done about the original rear quaters
How the doors were filled etc
If some one does read this who knows the guy etc I'd be very intrested to see prototype pics of the build and extention distances etc
Regards,
Ryan.

Nahhh, just asking the question. I don't get too fussed about these things. I did think that "what we talk about" didn't allow commercial advertising in posts, but on re-reading it today, there is no mention of it. My memory is every bit as flawed as I remember it to be.
Cheers,
Alf
