Momo steering wheel in Eunos Roadster

This question has puzzled me for a while, but I have seen Momo steering wheels in a lot of Eunos Roadsters, including my one, and was wondering if it is actually a standard item or option?? I really doubt it's a coincidence cos I've seen a lot of imported ones with them.
Another question I want to ask, assuming the Momo wheel is a standard item, how would cops deal with it? According to VicRoads, steering wheel with exposed metal is illegal, but if it's a standard item, where do I stand? Legal or illegal??
The wheel in question looks like this:

Isn't there a plastic cover over that metal part normally...my old Nardi did on the '94

Yeah the cars (both AUDM and JDM) came with a triangular rubber piece that covers the metal (and the pretty logo/horn button underneath it). The wheel has a very 80's vibe with the cover on.
Most owners however take that piece off, and that's probably the way it was sold to you. I still have mine.

perhaps buy a used cover from somewhere & keep it in the boot. if a coppa is about to defect you for it quickly get it out & instant undefectable

hmm ive also got a MOMO steering wheel on our Eunos NA6, except ours is a 95' Model with SRS Airbag....
Dont know why they put an airbag steering wheel in... (and no its not connected)(and yes the bag is still inside ready to be blown).
Its really is a nice wheel to drive with though, very comfortable!!!

if the car came standard with a steering wheel with an exposed centre then it's fine. if the standard steering wheel had a padded centre then that's how it stays.

Thanks for the info. Don't think I'll get the center cover now cos it looks better the way it is, but if something does happen, I'll know what to do.
So it's confirmed, the wheel is a standard item but with a center cover.

I have the exact same wheel and mine has been spot checked by police heaps of times (whenever something is on 'today tonight' about performance cars they go nuts for a few days) and they've never said anything about it
